Brian Gerdes talks about losing his son in a mining accident

Brian Gerdes, the father of fallen miner Jack Gerdes has told AMSJ about the anguish he faces following the death of Jack. He talks about a ‘mine safety virus’ that he believes has overcome the mining industry.

Brian Gerdes is an experienced miner and knows all too well the challenges in improving safety in mines. In this heartfelt interview Brian shares his thoughts on improving safety across the industry through better representation for workers and ensuring transparency in mining safety practices and investigations.

This is Brian’s plea to the mining industry to improve safety and ensure that accidents and incidents are investigated promptly to give some closure to families.
