RIO TINTO are looking for a Occupational Hygiene Advisor to join the Health & Safety team in Weipa. You will be responsible for managing the occupational hygiene program at Weipa Operations as well as the Amrun site, currently in construction. Your work will focus on recognising, evaluating and controlling workplace health hazards that may result in injury, illness or adversely affect worker wellbeing.

Working and reporting to the Superintendent Health & Safety, you will be:
  • Maintaining a risk based occupational hygiene monitoring program, in accordance with Rio Tinto requirements and legislation
  • Providing technical expertise and support to the site on all aspects of Occupational Hygiene
  • Supporting the site’s critical risk management program as well as championing the noise reduction program
  • The site Hazardous Substances Coordinator and Radiation Safety Officer
  • Pivotal in supporting and coordinating the asbestos management program
  • Supporting the facilitation site Health promotion
What you will need for this role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
  • A tertiary qualification in Occupational Hygiene or relevant related discipline
  • Be eligible for membership of the Australian Institute of Occupational Hygienists
  • Prior occupational hygiene experience in mining industry or similar heavy industry
  • Excellent time management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • A self-motivated work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
