Work has progressed slowly on recovery of Tasmanian miner Cameron Goss from Henty Gold Mine. Pybar Mining Services confirmed today that recovery operations at Henty Gold Mine continued through the weekend and the recovery team is currently planning an attempt to retrieve Cameron Goss later this week.
The company said that “on Monday, a remote-controlled mini excavator was used to hook the recovery chain to the loader, and installation of the wall plates for the pulley retrieval system continued. Pull testing of bolts on the plates is scheduled for Wednesday.”
“The focus for the next couple of days will be final preparations, which includes some widening of the immediate area to facilitate an easier recovery.”

PYBAR said it continues to keep Cameron’s family updated on progress. The company has also established further face to face counselling sessions in Queenstown this week, as well as providing counselling and support for anyone that has been affected by this incident.
Limited recovery support activities have commenced under the approval of the coroner, including pumping and services maintenance, servicing of the mine fleet, grading operations for the main decline, and minor mill maintenance.
Mining operations at the Henty Gold Mine remain suspended.
