The Resources Training Council has postponed its upcoming 5th Conference & Exhibition, scheduled for 25-26 May 2020, in accordance with Government mandated restrictions announced last month involving the COVID-19 Corona Virus.
Chief Executive Officer of the Resources Training Council, Heather Munro said, “we have taken the very difficult decision to postpone RTCCE 2020 in light of the global impact of the COVID-19 outbreak, and the conference will now be held in May 2021 in Brisbane.
“Whilst we are very disappointed that we find ourselves in this situation and regret the inconvenience that has been caused by the extraordinary circumstances confronting everybody world-wide, we are pleased to announce the new dates”, she explained.
Known as the premier resource training symposium, the Resources Training Council’s 5th Conference & Exhibition, will now be held on Monday 24 and Tuesday 25 May 2021 in Brisbane.
“Only the dates have changed, we will be delivering the same conference in 2021, said Heather Munro.
The Resources Training Council’s executive agreed that the conference could stand as a beacon of hope to our industry during these troubled times.
“It is clear that Corona Virus is going to have a significant impact on members’ businesses. It is at times of crisis such as this that we need to work together as an association to ensure the survival of industry in general and our own businesses in particular, Mrs Munro said.
“These are indeed challenging times for the resources sector and, on a personal note, I would like to extend my thanks for your understanding and support of this decision to postpone RTCCE to 2021,” she continued.
“It is clear that Covid-19 Virus is going to have a significant impact on members’ businesses. It is at times of crisis such as this that we need to work together as an association to ensure the survival of industry in general and our own businesses in particular.”

The two-day conference, will continue to be held at The Emporium Hotel, South Bank focusing on driving quality training with the key objective of driving improvement in skilling and training to ensure that all Australian resources industry workers go home safely every shift.
The theme of the conference remains ‘driving quality training’ and will provide training practitioners with an opportunity to hear the latest on the state of the Queensland resource sector, industry leading training practices, and solutions to common training implementation issues. Training streams include knowledge and learning transfer improvement through facilitated training, engaging an RTO effectively, effective storytelling, the power of influence, and managing training across different generations.
‘In light of the world crisis happening to all of us right now, we will also be adding another topic to the conference program around adversity’, said Heather Munro.
The conference and exhibition will be more important than ever for industry representatives across the resources sector including coal mining, metals mining, drilling, quarrying and civil construction to come together.
The conference will bring the now renamed 2021 Innovative Skilling Awards Dinner, which will be held on the eve of the first day of the conference. These awards recognise creativity and leading practice in driving quality training in the resources industry. Three awards will be presented for outstanding training initiative, outstanding site trainer/assessor and outstanding RTO Trainer/Assessor.
