Due to the ongoing impacts of the coronavirus pandemic and its continuing effects being felt across our economy, the Resources Training Council has postponed its upcoming 5th Conference & Exhibition until May 2022.

Chief Executive Officer of the Resources Training Council, Heather Munro said, “we have taken the very difficult decision to postpone our 5th Conference and Exhibition in light of the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, and the conference will now be held 22-24 May 2022”.
“With the recent snap lockdown in Brisbane along with more than 20% of our attendees from PNG being hugely impacted by the pandemic, many organisations deeming conference travel as ‘non-essential travel’, and the general lack of confidence to travel relating to quarantining, self-isolation and lockdowns, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the event”, she said.
“Having spent over the last year and half preparing for the event with our board, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and event partners, we’re genuinely upset and disappointed not to be able to host you at this time. Rescheduling the event will enable us to provide the experience that our delegates, sponsors, exhibitors, event partners and employees expect and deserve in a safe environment’”, said Mrs Munro.
Known as the premier resource training symposium, the Resources Training Council’s 5th Conference & Exhibition, will now be held on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 May 2022 in Brisbane.

‘In light of these unprecedented times happening to all of us right now, we have decided to add another topic to the conference program around adversity as well as taking the 2022 event to be delivered in a hybrid manner – both face to face and virtually – across a three-day format’, she said.
The three-day conference, will continue to be held at The Emporium Hotel, South Bank focussing on driving quality training with the key objective of driving improvement in skilling and training to ensure that all Australian and abroad resources industry workers go home safely every shift.
The theme of the conference remains ‘driving quality training’ and will provide training practitioners with an opportunity to hear the latest on the state of the Queensland resource sector, industry leading training practices, and solutions to common training implementation issues. Training streams include knowledge and learning transfer improvement through facilitated training, engaging an RTO effectively, effective storytelling, the power of influence, and managing training across different generations.
The conference will bring the now renamed 2022 Innovative Skilling Awards Dinner, which will be held on the eve of day two of the conference. These awards recognise creativity and leading practice in driving quality training in the resources industry. Three awards will be presented for outstanding training initiative, outstanding site trainer/assessor and outstanding RTO Trainer/Assessor. We will also continue to support charity, Mates in Mining, through our fundraising initiative at the conference dinner.
