WA rehabilitation plans showcase in new book

A new publication featuring examples of outstanding environmental management by Western Australia’s resources sector is now available online.

The Rehabilitation Showcase highlights rehabilitation outcomes, managed by mining and petroleum companies operating in WA, following the closure of mine sites and exploration activities.

The publication summarises the innovative techniques, research and monitoring the individuals and companies use to improve the rehabilitation of state forest areas, ecosystems and the restoration of land formations.

The Rehabilitation Showcase is published by the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety and can be downloaded from the department’s website at: https://www.dmirs.wa.gov.au/Rehabilitation_Showcase

Mines and Petroleum Minister Bill Johnston said: “The Rehabilitation Showcase features new technologies, innovative thinking and the conservation strategies that underpin the safe and responsible development of Western Australia’s vast resources.

“I commend the companies featured in this book and their ongoing work in improving rehabilitation and closure outcomes in our State.

“They demonstrate that we can achieve a successful balance of good environmental governance with a resilient resources industry.”
