YOUR SAY Getting physical At my age I try many things to keep fit and keep mobile. I have some back and neck pain from time to time and I thoroughly enjoyed your Seniors Fitness article [Staying agile and pain-free as you age – autumn]. I have been following the exercises that Kit Laughlin explained and have been feeling some improvement in these areas. I think if I keep this up I will even improve my health and fitness too. I would love to read some more health tips in future editions. K Moroney Melbourne, VIC The red centre I’ve just returned from a trip to Alice Springs and Uluru. I had been meaning to get there for years, but fi nally at age 63 I can cross it off the list. Oprah wasn’t kidding either when she said Uluru “strikes awe in your soul” – it is absolutely breathtaking. Your article [Unchartered Territory – autumn] will hopefully encourage others to check it out. Tim Lamb Via email Blind courage I loved your story about Prof Ron McCallum [Blind courage recognised – autumn]. It is fantastic to see him receive the award for Senior Australian of the Year. I really enjoyed reading his story, it’s great to see someone with disabilities achieve so much in life and it just goes to show that you can do anything you put your mind to. Grace Moten Via email 4 THE RETIREE WINTER this edition’s winning letter Vibrant living Late last year my husband and I moved into a retirement village on the New South Wales Central Coast. The decision to move was not made lightly, but in the end we decided that living in a virtually empty fi ve bedroom house for the rest of our lives wasn’t necessary. Eight months later we are still very much enjoying our new surroundings. It’s great to be part of such a vibrant community and we have made many new friends. Best of all, the family and grandkids also have a great time when they come to visit. I very much agree with what the Retirement Village Association wrote in your magazine [Why thousands of Australians are choosing to live in a retirement village – autumn] and I think the good news should be spread!
