IMPROVING EMERGENCY RESPONSE ON SITE COMMUNICATIONS AND SAFETY ASSISTING MINE RESCUE AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT WiPath provides you with the tools you need to operate and manage intelligent messaging systems onsite, through the use of several different wireless communications technologies. The effi ciency gains and improvements in safety as a result of implementing WiPath solutions will enable you to save precious time and money from downtime or accidents. WiPath’s product developments include Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs), Paging Data Terminals (PDTs), Paging Data Receivers (PDRs) and alarm paging/sms systems as well as a wide range of other specialised paging and wireless data hardware and software solutions which are used worldwide. WiPath’s latest development utilises higher safety measures to Lockout/Tagout “LOTO” solutions. Lok-Alert™ is a new innovative way to safeguard equipment that is being shut down for maintenance or repair from accidentally being switched on. Lok-Alert™ has the usual lockout tang and padlock systems used to secure equipment. In addition it also has built in warning mechanisms should the tang be opened or tampered with. Two models due for release shortly: the LA-5 and LA-2. The LA-5 has a built in 104db piezo siren that sounds any time the Lok-Alert™ is opened or closed to alert workers in the work area. The LA-2 also has a built in 104db piezo siren as well as 5W paging transmitter which can send instant alerting messages to belt worn devices, and logging software (to record the time, date and which device has been opened or closed). Traditionally LOTO records are recorded using a manual process, the ability to log the process on software saves time as well as providing a very accurate audit trail should an incident occur. Both the LA-5 and LA-2 are designed for internal and external use (I.P. rating pending). Both incorporate rechargeable lithium ion batteries which provide 60 hours of continuous use when fully charged. The Lok-Alert provides better mining employee safety through: • • Early hazard and warning Local “on site” audible siren alert of 90 AUSTRALASIAN MINE SAFETY JOURNAL • unauthorized removal of the lock out device • Wireless alert and reporting of unauthorized removal of the lock out device to a pager carried by employees or safety personnel • Wireless lock out provides remote alerting and reporting of all lock out device activity inclusive of its installation and removal to a hazardous device or system (authorized or unauthorized) and the time and date of each event to either a safety offi ce on the job site or mobile receiving terminal or both • • A better construction site safety management system. Provide hard copy of all lock out events in the system. As well as the new Lok-Alert solutions WiPath offers Emergency Mass Alerting solutions. On- site paging is still the fastest way to alert staff and emergency crews of an incident location and where to respond. Unlike SMS, Paging Messages are sent in real time and have the ability to give fast, meaningful information to emergency crews. In Mining Emergency response times are critical and WiPath offers off the shelf or customised solutions to meet your needs. Some of our specialist products include: • Mobile Data Terminals – Our WDT3200 offers a rugged terminal with full QWERTY keyboard for in vehicle mobile communications via radio or GPRS. Paging Data Terminals-The PDT3000 is designed for displaying paging messages in-vehicle or in fi xed locations. As well as this the PDT3000 comes standard with two serial ports, parallel printer port (which can also act as 12 alarm inputs when the alarm option is added) and four relay ports which can be switched via capcode, message text or both. The PDT3000 also comes in an IP66 option which includes one serial port. • Data Receivers – The PDR3000 has the same features as the PDT3000 except without the display.
